biography

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Gillian MacGregor pursued a feverish passion for acting and enrolled in drama school at the earliest opportunity. In time she would become an established stage actress, starring in critically acclaimed productions like Jamie the Saxt, before subsequently moving across to film. Originally having planned to follow a career in Bio-Chemistry, it wasn’t long before her fascination with the performing arts took centre stage. With a fearless, instinctive talent and intelligent character study,
Gillian brings realism and crackling life to the roles she plays. Recent highlights include the multi Award-Winning short film, Father's Day, opposite Kevin R. McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean), A Lonely Place To Die, from BAFTA nominated director Julian Gilbey (Rise of the Footsoldier) and Hit Girls, a new short film Gillian wrote and starred in, appearing with Rosie Fellner (Boogie Woogie) and Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum).
Last year, Gillian grabbed the attention of fans and industry peers, alike, participating in Models Fight Night, a charity boxing event at the HMV Forum in aid of The Katie Piper Foundation. Gillian trained hard for 7 months at The Boxing Clinic in London which led to a stunning victory at her boxing debut, beating a previously undefeated opponent and winning the fight by decision. Gillian’s victory was widely talked about as a highlight of the event. Additionally, a ‘making of’ documentary is currently being edited, covering the emotional journey of the fighters as they prepare for the battle and will be shown on national television later this year.
Having completed the Models Fight Night, and still as busy as ever, Gillian is preparing for several new film projects and made a long awaited return to the stage in November 2011 in Burlexe, a show celebrating the stories of the women of burlesque. The show was so popular, additional dates were quickly booked for 2012. Gillian is appearing in the forthcoming films, Across the River, starring in The Quiet One and will join the cast for the forthcoming TV series, Ninety Eight Percent, coming later in the year. Gillian continues bringing her unique style to each and every one of her roles and as fans would attest, there is a lot more still to come.
